Norwich couple deny fraud at Norwich Magistrates' Court

A Norwich couple have appeared in court accused of trying to rent out a house they do not own and accepting £1,000 from would-be tenants.

Jamie and Victoria Lee both pleaded not guilty to a single charge of fraud, said to have occurred between July and September last year in Norwich.

Mr Lee, 34, of Poppy Crescent in Easton, also denied a charge of concealing and disguising criminal property, namely money in the sum of £769, by means of a bank transfer he made to his wife.

Mrs Lee, 32, also of Poppy Crescent, denied a charge of acquiring and possessing criminal property, relating to the money that was sent to her by her husband.

Katherine Newson, prosecuting, said that police had been notified after would-be tenants had paid money but were unable to move in to the property.
