Further, our investigations reveal that HHJ Backhouse allegedly permitted a landlord, who was accused of egregious breaches of contract in separate proceedings, to falsely assert that their counterparty was, in fact, an agent of the vexatious litigant. The apparent motive: if a link to a vexatious litigant could be established, it would supposedly allow the judge to find in favour of the accused landlord, regardless of the merits of the breach of contract claim.
In a case previously presided over by HHJ Luba, it appears that HHJ Backhouse (Left) was inexplicably "parachuted in" to the proceedings with a singular, predetermined aim: to establish, regardless of truth or justice, that a vexatious litigant was the agent, controlling mind, or otherwise linked to the claimant company. This selective intervention resulted in what is being described as a "sham hearing" disguised as a case management hearing. This hearing, on the facts, culminated in a "bogus judgment" that fundamentally lacked honesty and transparency.
The judge, it is alleged, knew that the evidence before her was directly at odds with a Part 36 settlement that she was aware existed in a separate, linked case. Furthermore, she allegedly disregarded evidence of a £1.5 million settlement in yet another linked case involving the very same vexatious litigant. This renders the evidence she relied upon as false, yet the judge made no reference to her prior knowledge of these other proceedings, allegedly to successfully pervert the course of justice.
The "shameless and dishonourable judge's fraudulent sham order" is now subject to appeal. Such conduct, if proven, demonstrates a callous indifference to the consequences of her actions and clearly blots the copybook of her previously promising judicial ascent to higher office since her appointment as HHJ on 22 January 2018.
